Homeschool Outing: Garlic Planting - October 26th

$20.00

Join us for a fun autumn morning at Sunray Community Farm as we plant garlic for next summer's harvest!

Designed for homeschooling families, this hands-on outing combines nature exploration, practical skills, and seasonal learning. Together we'll take a guided walk around the farm, observe how the landscape changes in autumn, learn why garlic is planted in the fall, and help establish the farm's community garlic patch.

During the outing, children will:

🧄 Learn how garlic grows from a single clove into a full bulb

🚶 Take a guided walk around the farm and explore seasonal changes in nature

🌱 Plant garlic in the Sunray Community Garlic Patch

🍂 Help mulch the garlic bed to prepare it for winter

🎨 Paint and personalize a garden stone that will become part of the Children's Garden

📍 A Special Return Visit: As a thank you for helping establish the Sunray Community Garlic Patch, each participating child and their family will be invited back in July 2027 to harvest heads of garlic to take home!

This outing is designed to encourage curiosity, environmental stewardship, and hands-on learning while helping children develop a deeper connection to the land and the changing seasons.

Ages: 6–12 (with parent or guardian)

Duration: Approximately 2 hours

Cost: $20 per child (parent or guardian included)

Capacity: Limited to 12 children.

Please bring water, weather-appropriate clothing, and closed-toe shoes suitable for walking on uneven farm terrain.

We look forward to planting, learning, and growing together!
