Join us for a hands-on autumn morning at Sunray Community Farm exploring trees, shrubs, soil, and the ecology of the farm!
Designed for homeschooling families, this workshop will also serve as a preview of our Farm & Field Homeschool Program launching in Spring 2027. Together we'll explore the farm, learn about the important roles trees and shrubs play in a healthy ecosystem, and help with some real fall projects on the farm.
During the outing, children will:
🌳 Learn about trees, shrubs, roots, and their roles on the farm
🌱 Help plant trees and shrubs that will become a lasting part of the landscape
🍂 Explore soil, compost, decomposition, and other signs of the changing season
🎨 Help create and decorate signs for new planting areas
🚶 Explore the farm and participate in other seasonal activities along the way
This outing is designed to encourage curiosity, environmental stewardship, and hands-on learning while giving families a taste of the longer Farm & Field programs we'll be offering beginning in Spring 2027.
Ages: 7–12+ (with parent or guardian)
Date: Tuesday September 29th
Time: 10:00 AM–12:30 PM
Optional Community Lunch: Bring your own lunch and stay from 12:30–1:00 PM
Cost: $25 per child (parent or guardian included)
Capacity: Limited to 8 children.
Please bring water, weather-appropriate clothing, and closed-toe shoes or boots that can get dirty. All tools and activity materials will be provided.
